The monster designs lean toward the "cool" side rather than cute, with earthier, dark color palettes. The gameplay is fundamentally Pokemon with a few tweaks and QoLs and a fun shiny/IV system. You go back to the main campus and are forced to fightĪ lighthearted Pokemon clone with a splash of Golden Sun. Speaking of my favorite battle actually takes place towards the end of the game. Ginger my Toravolt absolutely carried me through that battle. The final boss was especially annoying in this regard. I think they would be the only real complaint I do have for this game. Boss battles were more on the tedious side but not too hard.
Or one that hasn't evolved yet and is becoming obsolete (Looking at you Mino).īattles were fun albeit easy(except for one, my favorite actually). Also there's exp share items which is GREAT when you want to add a new addition to your team that is not on the same level. Only found the scripted perfect ones out in the wild but was still pretty cool to have my normal little ones turned into potent just with luck. Can only do it once per monster but it's pretty cool all things considered. Another thing is being able to raise the potential of a monster to basically make them shiny, higher stats and all. I liked having my fire types in fire spinners, etc. Small but I enjoyed that you could change the spinner it was caught in. Completely decimated just about everything, especially with the ability to raise it's attack and speed after every monster defeated. Completely useless to me when it was a little thing but when it evolved, was a mainstay. Another monster that was worth the wait and trouble, Mino. Didn't care for that little guy but once he evolved into Digmow, it was over. I found myself catching many things I wasn't initially interested in just to see what they would evolve into which is how I found one of my favorite lines Moffel. The music is okay, inoffensive at best, at least to me.
The animated sprites are absolutely gorgeous to look at. Bought it for the beautiful sprite work and gosh is it a sight to behold. The story is passable but I didn't buy the game for the story. I liked being able to basically make any team that I wanted and cruise on through. I don't write reviews very often so this'll probably be all over the place.
